Very Elderly male staff member who works there often seen putting stock on shelves etc can be very intrusive and crossing boundaries with small children. Have seen him standing there watching little children playing with the toys and telling them off for not putting things back in the correct place. This is unprofessional and unacceptable to be interfering with how little kids are playing as I didn’t see them doing anything wrong. Maybe best he approaches the parents rather than children to be appropriate.
The older people working at this store are incredibly, shamelessly racist- please go to one of the other charity stores nearby if you can. I was here today and two African gentlemen walked in. Immediately the older lady with the long hair yelled “we’re closing in 2 minutes” and didn’t take her eyes off of the men for a second. One of the men went to open a door in the back, which is staff only, but when the lady yelled at him and said “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! That’s staff only!” He explained that he thought it was the furniture section. This is a simple mistake, one that I’ve made before, as many charity shops have a bigger section in the back for furniture. By the time the guy had finished explaining, and older man who worked at the store had already come over and they both were basically yelling at the men telling them everything was closed. When I told them that they were being extremely hostile to the men for no reason the lady said “they’re scoping the place out” which is ridiculous- it’s a charity store. Another old lady in the staff went over to start talking with the other two about the men, who had left quietly, as if they had just tried to rob the place or something. Really disgusting behaviour! Even it was not about race, which it very clearly was, you should never treat any customer like that. The two younger ladies behind the counter were lovely.
Was just in this store, good prices and very lovely staff. Very friendly man at the front entrance greeting people and a nice man inside very helpful and friendly. One of the most pleasant experiences I’ve had in an op-shop!
Good selection of clothes, art and home necessities can be found here. Decent sized store. Staff are friendly. There could be improvements made with the organisation and presentation of the clothes. Suggestions would include: Sorting clothes by size rather than colour. Avoid the use of low racks for men's t-shirts as it is hard to see the labels unless one gets on their knees. Avoid putting too many clothes on each rack. Moving the less popular winter jackets onto the lower racks and putting jumpers and t-shirts where the jackets are instead. With some of these improvements the shopping experience could be a lot more productive a pleasant.
