About Op Spot

Good stuff deserves to be found.

Op Spot helps you discover op shops, charity stores and vintage near you — and see what’s in store right now. We’re on a mission to make second-hand the easiest, most rewarding way to shop.

Why we built it

The best op-shop finds are invisible. A perfect jacket, a complete dinner set, the exact chair you’ve been after — they turn up by pure chance, and you only hear about them after they’re gone. The shops themselves are just as hard to find: brilliant little stores tucked down side streets, known only to the locals who stumbled on them.

Meanwhile the charities behind so many of these shops do quiet, essential work — and they’re under-discovered too. We thought the whole thing deserved a map. A way to see what’s near you, what’s open, and what’s actually in store, before you head out the door.

So we built Op Spot: part treasure map, part community of people who love the hunt as much as the haul.

What Op Spot does

Find op shops near you

Every op shop, charity store and second-hand spot around you on one map — with who's open right now.

See what's in store

Fellow op-shoppers post the finds they spot, so you know whether it's worth the trip before you go.

Plan a loop

Line up the shops worth a dedicated run and turn an afternoon into a proper treasure hunt.

Keep your finds

Snap your best bargains to a personal wall and look back on everything you've rescued.

What we care about

Community first

Op shopping is a shared hunt. Op Spot is built on the tips and finds of the people out there doing it.

Backing charities

Most op shops fund real causes. Helping more people find them sends more support where it's needed.

Keeping good stuff in use

Every rehomed find is one less thing in landfill. Reuse is the most local kind of sustainability there is.

Built to be readable

Op shopping spans every age and ability. Op Spot is designed to a low-vision readability standard so it works for everyone.

Who’s behind it

Op Spot is made in Auckland by Claire Byrne and The Elements Online Studio. Claire started out founding one of New Zealand’s first and largest online florists, and has spent the last 25 years building digital products — for early-stage startups and global technology companies alike.

Op Spot brings those two threads together: a love of finding good things and giving them a second life, and a belief that the right product can make something that was once down to luck feel effortless. You can find Claire on LinkedIn.

Op Spot is operated by The Elements Limited. Company details are on the support page.
