Shop really filling out note after opening in March. Easy stop in when heading up Gt South Rd with parking outside.
About this shop
The newest of Takanini's trio, open since March 2026 and still building stock — women's clothing is the current strength. Early reviews split: neat and friendly for some, too dear for others (our field note calls it reasonable, not cheap). Directly opposite Red Cross, it's the easy add-on that makes Takanini a three-shop run.

3.4 ★ · 8 Google ratingsA small, newly opened SPCA shop — the standard SPCA footprint, and only just getting going. Lots of women's clothing (the main reason to come), with a little furniture, books and toys, and plenty of everyday bric-a-brac while the stock builds. Prices are reasonable — not cheap, but not overpriced.
The real drawcard is the location: directly opposite Red Cross and down from Tōtara Hospice, so you can do three shops in one go, with easy parking right outside. This is the "while I'm here" stop of the trio.

Will be great when more varied stock
One of the good opshop to visit prices are reasonable and neatly setup plus staff are friendly
One of the most expensive op shops I’ve been too. Everything is far too overpriced. Have run down kids shoes going for $6-$10 and shirts $20+, such a shame to see those kinds of prices when everything has been donated.
Not a great shop. So sad it’s a brand new store. The prices are so rediculous. The manager and some of the the team members they are not professional and friendly . Need someone with great experience and knows how to run and keep the store in good order.
These thrift stores are getting out of hand with these prices. Pricing them as if they are brand new and unused. A women’s weekly magazine was 4 dollars, that’s literal garbage.
