The Salvation Army Inala

I recently visited the Salvation Army in Inala and was appalled by the experience. The numerous rules and regulations have created an inhospitable environment. The cooking incident, where the chef neglected to provide adequate ventilation, resulted in a smoky church, posing a significant health risk to vulnerable individuals, including those with asthma, young children, and the elderly. I was forced to open a window to alleviate the discomfort, which irritated my eyes. The experience triggered PTSD for some elderly individuals, reminding them of their experiences in dormitories. The speaker's loud voice, instead of using a microphone, was distressing for my children, who have sensory issues. The threat to discontinue Sunday breakfast services if instructions are not followed is unacceptable. It appears that the new staff member is abusing their authority. Given the substantial funding the Salvation Army receives, it is disappointing to see the decline in service quality. I will no longer attend.

If you're looking for practical help, a hot breakfast maybe, then maybe it's fine. The ministry is very poor. He doesn't want to conduct worship and I've seen him repel people who are looking for one on one ministry (I never tried!). He just wants to hand stuff out. So many people have left that church. If the minister isn't spiritually feeding the attendees, most will try out other churches. I can't work out if the people who remain (a handful) are loyal or just too rigid to move. In my case I actually deconverted/ deconstructed and now am an atheist. It's a very painful process, but also very rewarding when you realize that nothing actually really terrible happens to you when you stop believing. This place is NOT recommended if you are wanting a spiritual home.

Inala Salvation Army is a warm, friendly place where people of all backgrounds and creeds can come together and feel safe and feel they belong. They helped so many people including me. Thank you Salvos! You’re my family!

Love shopping here just wish the prices didnt increase so much, I mean it is a second had store which is renounded for bargains, give me bargains again and I'll give it a 5 star.
