Community Guidelines

Last updated: 8 June 2026 · Version 1.2

These Community Guidelines (also called our Acceptable Use Policy) apply to everyone who uses Op Spot. They form part of the Op Spot Terms. Breaking them is a breach of the Terms of Service.

1. Zero tolerance

Op Spot has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. We will remove objectionable content, and we may suspend or terminate the accounts of people who post it or who behave abusively.

2. What is not allowed

Do not post, submit or do any of the following on Op Spot:

  • anything illegal, or content that promotes illegal activity;
  • hate speech, or content that harasses, bullies, threatens, defames or intimidates anyone;
  • harassment or “doxxing” of op-shop staff, volunteers or other users — do not publish people’s private information;
  • pornographic, indecent, violent or otherwise objectionable content;
  • fake, misleading or impersonated shop or charity listings;
  • listings or photos of illegal, stolen, recalled or unsafe goods;
  • content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights, or that you do not have the right to share;
  • private or confidential information you are not entitled to share;
  • spam, unsolicited advertising, or commercial cross-promotion; or
  • viruses, malware, or attempts to scrape, disrupt or misuse the Service.

3. Be respectful

Op Spot is a community built around supporting op shops and charities. Be polite and respectful to op-shop staff, volunteers and other users. Reviews should be honest and fair.

4. Reporting content

Every photo, review and listing on Op Spot has an in-app “Report” option. If you see something that breaks these Guidelines, please report it. We review reported content and will remove objectionable content, and remove or ban the users responsible, within 24 hours of becoming aware of it.

5. Blocking users

You can block another user from within the app. Blocking stops that user from interacting with you on Op Spot.

6. Consequences

If you break these Guidelines, we may — depending on the seriousness — remove the content, issue a warning, suspend your account, or permanently terminate it. No compensation is payable if content is removed, or an account is suspended or terminated, under these Guidelines. Serious matters may be referred to the relevant authorities.

7. Op-shop listings

If you claim and manage a Listing, keep its information accurate and current, only upload content you have the right to use, and do not use it for spam or to misrepresent the shop or charity.

8. New Zealand law

These Guidelines operate alongside New Zealand law, including the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015 and the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993. Content that is unlawful under New Zealand law is not permitted on Op Spot.
