Salvos Stores Norwood

Must be some strong stuff they’re smoking at the Salvation Army thrift stores. Selling worn $9 T-shirts for $15? Brilliant business model. Your shop might be at Norwood, but that doesn’t mean you can charge 50% more than retail haha. Nothing says “charity” like charging more for second-hand than brand new. Might as well shop retail and get something that doesn’t smell like regret.

I love op shopping and have found lovely and beautiful people at different stores across Adelaide. Unfortunately, this outlet is in line with other reviews. Staff are not welcoming and appeared unfriendly, closely watching all customers. Two staff at the back were complaining about people donating items, stating people were “entitled” and rude and just clearly not enjoying their work. One man donated a couple bags of items and it was poorly received by the volunteer saying “we’re actually not taking anymore, but if it’s just those bags then ok. We’re just a bit over it”. Prices were on the higher end for a secondhand store but still reasonable. Due to the service, not my fave shop to visit!

I love Op shopping and have been in a lot of Salvos stores. This was the most disappointing of all. It was way overpriced even when some were on half price due to it being the coloured ticket of the week (is it because its in Norwood??) and it smelt like urine inside that you couldnt even concentrate looking at anything in the shop.

We arrived on time at 9 AM to drop off a donation, but the donation area was not open. A staff member suggested we leave our items in a different area, but when we started unloading, the person in charge of donations refused to accept them—with an indifferent and dismissive attitude. We put time and effort into organizing our donation, and this experience was disappointing. We regularly buy and donate at different Salvos stores, but this location was a huge mistake. If you're looking to donate, I’d recommend going elsewhere where your contribution is valued.

Very unimpressed to witness the staff here speak very rudely to a non-Australian customer, saying that they couldn’t understand them (despite the request being very easy to understand, from my view). When they finally understood their question, they went on to advise this customer bluntly that they did not stock any fragrances, despite there being an entire shelf at the front of the store. I, another customer, then told the person that there were fragrances in the front of the store, and the staff attempted to backtrack. I do hope that the service improves in future!
