I bought a steamer from The Lions Op Shop and later discovered it was missing a part. I did not know this at the time, as I was not familiar with steamers, and nothing indicated that it was being sold “as is” or that parts were missing. When I raised the issue, I was told their store policy did not allow refunds. I did not find the response particularly friendly or helpful, and based on the interaction, I did not feel comfortable going back to pursue the issue further. I later checked Australian Consumer Law and found that store refund policies do not override consumer guarantees where an item is faulty, incomplete, or not as described. Second-hand stores and op shops are not automatically exempt from this. I understand this is an op shop, and the amount was not large, but customers should still be treated fairly when an item is missing a necessary part.
Not sure who’s doing the pricing in this shop but they need to retire. $80 for used defective adidas shoes $50 for rotten extremely worn Nike shoes $40 for a used sleeping bag Opportunity shop thats running low on opportunities. Sad to see
