Always come to this location as they have some good deals on - one of the more regular ones is $1 books - staff are always willing to help - this salvation army store has a well balanced variety the old epping location only really had furniture but this has a bit of everything Happy hunting

⸻ Date: 09/10/2025 | Time: 16:23 I would like to share my experience at this store today, which I found to be quite upsetting. I purchased four items and, as a volunteer with The Salvation Army (Salvos), I mentioned that I was eligible for the staff discount—one of the perks of volunteering with the organization. However, the store manager, Laura, questioned my eligibility and asked for proof of my involvement. I provided her with my POS ID and password. She then questioned why my last name on the Workforce system differed from the one on my membership. I explained that my Workforce ID uses my maiden name, while my membership and contact details are under my married name. I also noted that the POS ID system allows for only a limited number of characters, which affects how names are displayed. I felt that the way this situation was handled was unnecessarily harsh and left me feeling disrespected, despite trying to clarify everything in good faith.

Amazing store. There are lots of nice things to be found even for a lucky advantaged person who at the moment has everything and much more for a relatively, very basic, but comfortable (minus any heating or air conditioning, because it's too expensive in VIC) and happy living (thanks to me working like crazy, 24/7 while being 63 y.o., which is retirement age in any other country). My husband is local Irish boy, born in Glenroy in 1951. He still can't afford to retire and has to drive buses being 74. I am still thinking about buying from the Salvation Army store their beautiful art deco real heavy crystal vase displayed in their locked cabinet: there are never too many fresh flower display vases in the house! Today my eyes caught their 1.5m tall real wicker and metal candle stand. It's absolutely timeless and can be used as indoor/outdoor trailing plant stand. My husband drinks his extra hot cappuchino exclusively from vintage stemmed Irish Coffee mugs. It keeps the heat away from our antique furniture. Today I found 2 mugs for $4 in Salvos store (vs buying the same from eBay for $40 plus postage). I also found large Orrefors crystal milk jug with original factory sticker and also a hallmarked Steward crystal bud vase, both sold for an unbelievable price, under $5, at the store before. I recommend to keep looking. All of my furniture, wall pictures, most of my clothes and shoes are secondhand. Secondhand items are chosen from thousands of other new things by somebody for being much better quality. Already warn are presoftened, if it's leather shoes, they are wider, stretched, much more comfortable to wear. Queen Elizabeth II only wore shoes which were prior worn by others.

I visit this store all the time as it’s actually one of my favourite op shops. I have spent a lot of money here and am a loyal customer. I must emphasise that the staff here are AMAZING- warm, kind and welcoming. They do an amazing job of running the store. However, my last visit to the op shop opened my eyes to some issues that I had not noticed before. There was a woman with short brown hair who I am assuming was a manager. Now my toddler was in the toy section playing with toys, as she does at a lot of op shops. The manager aggressively sought me out to see whether I would “clean” the mess my daughter made. Now there was a mess already in the toy section- my daughter had not made all the mess. I assured her that I would tidy up that area- I just wanted to have a look around the store. One of the beautiful employees went and tidied up the area (I have good rapport with this employee and she is so sweet). I thanked her profusely. When I went to pay for my items, a covered Muslim woman (like myself), came into the store & wanted to have a look at some cameras in the cabinet. The obnoxious manager unlocked the cabinet & stood over this poor woman like she was some thief, watching her like a hawk. Even I was uncomfortable watching this happen & the manager started making comments under her breath to the other employees and rolling her eyes at the Muslim woman. She was so blatantly rude and disrespectful. I wondered whether she treated me like that because I was covered too. Salvos- do something about this because it is not good enough! You are an op shop, not a designer store. I’m sure some people do come in and steal- but to treat customers who are honest in such a repugnant way is downright revolting and unprofessional. Her actions made me believe that she is a racist. Not a good look for your store, if this happens again, I will take it further.
