I visited Vinnies Essendon North in June 2026 with my mum to check out their selection of second hand treasures and see what we could find. It was pretty easy to get to, sitting right on a main road with parking available in the small shopping village next door for customers. You can also get there via public transport, though it would probably involve a combination of train and bus services, so I was definitely glad we drove. The store itself is hard to miss with its large signage, and it feels much bigger than a lot of other op shops I’ve visited. As soon as we walked in I noticed the large donation area off to the left hand side. There were plenty of donation bins and lots of room for people to drop things off, and it looked like the staff kept on top of it because everything was tidy and organised. Inside, the store felt bright and well laid out. Even though we arrived with only about twenty minutes before closing, there was still enough time to get a feel for just how much stock they had available. I headed straight for the clothing section while my mum wandered off towards the homewares. The clothing area was well organised, with items separated into different categories and sizes, making it easy to browse without feeling overwhelmed. I ended up finding a pair of overalls that came home with me, after I tried them on in the change rooms. While my mum managed to uncover two paint by number kits and a top for her husband from the men’s section. Honestly, we barely scratched the surface of what was there. Every aisle seemed to lead to another section full of things worth looking through, and I could easily see myself spending a couple of hours here on a future visit. The staff were lovely throughout our visit. As closing time got closer they politely let shoppers know the store would be shutting soon, but nobody felt rushed out the door. When we were ready to leave, the team got us through the checkout quickly and were friendly and helpful the whole time. I think Vinnies can sometimes be a little hit or miss depending on the store, especially when it comes to pricing and what stock happens to be available on the day, but this location left a pretty positive impression on me. The store was clean, well maintained, the staff were great, and there was a huge range of items to browse. I definitely need to come back with more time because twenty minutes wasn’t nearly enough. If you enjoy op shopping and finding the occasional hidden gem, I think Vinnies in Essendon North is well worth checking out.
