Although the hours of Flaxmere’s St Vincent De Paul are appallingly inconvenient (due to being understaffed probably), it’s truly a hidden gem that resides in the now-forlorn Flaxmere Shopping Centre. St Vinnies radiates communal energy. Whenever I leave the store, everyone inside (typically three people) turns around and wishes me a warm goodbye. Why, just a few weeks ago, I was carousing around town with the intent to purchase some items from here. I had obtained several pieces of clothing, all of which were between 10c-$2. Feeling content, I strolled up to the counter to pay. The sexagenarian-looking worker initiated a short conversation with me about my lucrative finds. Within that short interaction, he managed to call me “darlin’” and “sweetheart” at least 50 times. This took me aback, as not many people dare to refer to me. They generally say “hi” and do not perceive me. I smiled at him and happily skipped out of the store, knowing that there are some people out there who actually acknowledge me. Overall - 4 stars. Everyone is extremely nice, HOWEVER, I am unable to come here often as the hours are EXTREMELY unworkable!
Great shop but small. Lovely manager. Amazing what he can fit inside. One changing room. Outside has bargain bin and rack.
