Have been buying all of my books from this amazing shop for a very long time and I have found absolute treachers that I have been unable to find anywhere else. The people who own and run this incredible book store are just incredible humans and such a joy after the disgusting behavior of the big stores and the obscene high prices. And if you are lucky to be there when the elderly gentleman who co owns the shop he ALWAYS brings lots of chocolate to share with his coworkers and customers. He also has an incredible memory of where books you are looking for and no matter how obscure he always knows. Wonderful people that remind me of how the people of Christchurch used to be and find out the horrific beating and and the absolute truth here. Just incredible book,z and
Great selection and very good prices. Hard to find a good old fashioned second hand bookshop nowadays
Only downsides are being on a busy road, and lack of parking, but to my knowledge, they are trying to fix that. I only thought I would be there for half an hour, was there for over an hour, happily exploring, adding books to my pile. This place is stocked full of delights, somewhere to check out, if in Christchurch. Customers are looked after, others pop in for a chat, a real gem of a place. Do not miss the opportunity to go in, as this place is amazing. The fiction books for adults are affordable, something for everyone, ranging from just $3.
Great. Well ordered. Helpful staff. Good prices. I was after the final 2 books in the Clan of the Cave Bear series. I have been looking for a while without success. Shop had a dedicated Jean M Auel section! My partner I bought 18 books altogether to replenish our to be read pile. Highly recommended.
A wonderful secondhand book shop…every shelf is packed to the extreme, boxes of more books all around, helpful staff, and reasonable prices. If you don’t mind a wonderfully organised mess that has almost every book possible this is the place to go. Be prepared to spend lots of time searching and browsing. Love the experience of the Book Barn.
