I stumbled across the Red Geranium after I got off at the wrong bus stop and I'm so glad I did. What a gem! This op shop is small but packed with lots of lovely old and unique things for a good price. I found this super adorable handmade pillow here! The staff were lovely and they donate profits to Doctors Without Borders- one of the best international charities out there in my opinion! I will definitely be getting off at the wrong bus stop more often!

Dear MSF Red Geraniums, This is long story that starts back in October when I came into the shop. I was visiting from Melbourne. Browsing through the items for sale with my partner, I spied this really funky green and white salad spinner made by Kuhn Rikon. I gave the handle a couple of exploratory turns. I looked at the little red price tag. It wasn't entirely clear. It looked like it might be $22. I thought that was pretty high for a secondhand salad spinner, but it did look good and it was to support MSF (which I do through the donations when I can afford them). So, I decided to buy it and paid $22. I peeled off the price tag, attached it to the receipt and put it in my wallet. I didn't look at it again until I got back to Melbourne and emptied my wallet. I checked the price tag again. On closer inspection, I could see it was tagged to sell at $6 and what I thought was $22 was in fact the date it had been put on sale - 22/9. I wasn't too bothered by the price. I considered the extra I paid could count as a donation to MSF. But then the funky salad spinner, stopped spinning. Turning the handle only produced a nasty, ratcheting sound, not the smooth whir of the salad basket rotating in the bowl. It seemed obvious that the handle had disengaged from the spindle inside. If only I could take it apart to check it out. I just couldn't see how to dismantle it. I looked up Kuhn Rikon on the web, thinking they sounded like a Japanese company. Turns out they're Swiss with outlets in the UK. So I emailed them and sent them photos. After we shared a couple of follow up emails, Kuhn Rikon sent me an image of the the dismantled spinner with instructions on how to take it apart. It wasn't as hard as I'd thought. So, after several attempts at disassembly and re-assembly, when I finally got all the parts to line up and lock in, the Kuhn Rikon is spinning like a top. I'm so happy and feel like my purchase price including donation is money well spent.
A very nice shop with a great choice of clothing. Monies raised are directed to a very good cause in Doctors without Borders.
