Heathmont’s VMCH shop does double duty as a secondhand store and a supported retail-learning hub. VMCH uses its op shops to help people with disability gain hands-on experience with customer service, point-of-sale work, sorting donations and preparing stock. A long-term volunteer also describes using the branch for theatre props and costumes, an indication of the browse rather than a guaranteed speciality. This op shop is one of a kind. It has stayed true to the ethos of what an op shop is designed for. To give people an opportunity to buy goods they may not be able to afford new. I am always pleased when I go to find some quality items for a great price. The staff are very friendly and it is always full of locals.
Great local op shop. In the days of the mega op shops like Savers, Vinnies and Salvos, it's nice to have a real old school op shop still around with books for 50c or $1, cheap toys for the kids, regular clothing sales with everything for $2 etc. They have a pretty good turn over so there's always a reason to pop in. We go in most weeks after my sons karate class and the volunteers all recognise us and are friendly. We've got some great bargains like gumboots for my daughter for 50c and some of our favourite most read books have come from here. Definitely worth popping in!
A true blue opportunity shop, the turn over in kids toys, books, cds, and knickknacks is frequent enough where we stop in whenever we go to the shops. Lots of homeruns. N'SYNC CD, a cool hot wheels car, pepper pig book. Lovely shop.
