The volunteers are lovely. It’s very clean and the prices are good.
I’m very grateful to the vicar for running this opportunity shop I have been coming to since I was 10. It is truly a great opshop. But I I am leaving 4 stars because a few times now I have felt a bit shamed for being poor by volunteers here, just lately. If I ask the price of something, and then it is out of my price range and I say “sorry but I’ll have to leave it”, “ok, that’s fine” would be the answer I would usually get, but lately, with a couple of different volunteers it has been more like “Well, that is a very good price for this item, I am surprised you can’t afford that, it’s a lovely item. We have great prices”. I want to be clear I am not bartering in these moments, never would, just clarifying a price on an untagged item and if I can’t afford it or justify the price, I have to say I’ll leave it behind. I am wondering if the team could have a group discussion please about how to approach these discussions more empathetically, with the fact in mind that $5 or $10 is not a lot of money to some, but a lot to others.
Friendly volunteers. Real op shop prices for the benefits of the needy, unlike Salvos who thinks they're a fully profitable boutique store. Found a suit jacket in great condition for just $8
