I visited Greeves St Op Shop in June 2026 with my mum for a day of op shopping around Melbourne. It’s located right on the corner of Chapel Street and Carlisle Street, making it super easy to get to whether you’re driving or catching public transport. There are tram stops on both corners of the intersection and Balaclava Station is only a short walk away. We drove up in my mum’s van and managed to grab a street parking spot right out the front, though I imagine that would be pretty hit or miss depending on the day and time. The shop is housed inside an old church and while the interior has been modernised, they’ve done a great job preserving the character of the original building from the outside. The large signage makes it impossible to miss and there was even a free bucket of items out the front for people to rummage through before heading inside. It also looked like there were some community support services operating next door, which was nice to see and added to the community feel of the place. Walking inside, I was surprised by how modern and stylish the space felt. The polished wooden floors, bright lighting, and open layout made it feel very different from some of the more crowded op shops I’ve visited. Despite not being a huge store, they’ve used the space really well and managed to fit a lot in without it feeling cluttered. I spent most of my time browsing the clothing racks and managed to find a couple of pairs of pants on a two for one rack that caught my eye. Out the back they have three fitting rooms with cute curtains, mirrors, and hooks, which made trying things on really easy. I ended up loving both pairs and took them home with me. The clothing selection was definitely the main focus of the store, with a mix of everyday pieces, vintage items, and a small designer section scattered throughout. While clothes seem to be the star of the show, there were also some books, DVDs, children’s items, and a few shelves dedicated to homewares and china. I didn’t spend nearly enough time looking through those sections and would definitely come back to have a more thorough browse another day because there looked to be some interesting finds hidden amongst everything. The only thing that stood out to me was the pricing. I understand that op shops closer to the city generally charge more these days and costs have gone up everywhere, but some items felt a little expensive for second hand clothing. I ended up paying $14 for two pairs of pants, which wasn’t terrible, but there were definitely some pieces around the store that felt priced closer to retail than traditional op shop bargains. That being said, the quality of the store, the presentation, and the location probably all play a role in that. The ladies working at the front counter were lovely and made checking out quick and easy. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. It’s a stylish little op shop with a great range of clothing, a welcoming atmosphere, and plenty to browse through despite its smaller size. There are also several other op shops nearby, so I’d definitely recommend making a day of it and exploring the area if you enjoy thrift shopping. Just be prepared that you’re probably paying inner city op shop prices rather than bargain bin prices, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had hunting for a good find.

Greeves Street Op Shop – A Hidden Gem! Absolutely love this place! Greeves Street Op Shop is full of amazing finds — from unique vintage pieces to everyday treasures, you never know what you’ll stumble upon. The staff are genuinely lovely and create such a warm, welcoming vibe. One of my favourite spots to browse and give pre-loved items a new home. Highly recommend! ♥️

Lovely and nice place. However, I liked the previous location closer to Acland St. better. For ladies clothes, the layout was more convenient as the majoirty of items were hanging. The current location put clothes in a big box for discounted designer items where you have to pick one by one, skirts section bar was too low and hard to check because they were not only low, but also packed together too much. It was difficult to pull. Still, the vibe is great with many cute stuff. Staff members are very friendly here 😊

Beautiful op-shop. Full of quality clothes, shoes, accessories. Thoughtful use of the space, an old church. Room to walk around the store without bumping into items. Quality clothing and homewares. Some designer items are a little bit pricey for an op shop but still reasonably priced.
