Visiting second hand bookstores is always a fun adventure if you are a book lover. What treasures will you find? Here I have found quite a few! Blue Hill Books has a great range that is well organised by subject/genre. No matter what you like to read you should be able to find something on the shelves.
Best curated bookshop that I've visited for a long time. Owner is charming and knowledgeable as well. My daughter (20yo) and I loved truly loved it. It was our highlight of our morning shopping in Parnell.
This is a lovely little secondhand bookshop at the top of Parnell road by the church. It has a lovely atmosphere and I bought a great book on different types of hotels to stay in around the world. I love these books to try and spice up a trip. There was also a beautiful book of travelling New Zealand that I was tempted by but I have several. The two ladies who run the store are welcoming and helpful and can advise about the different electic books there. Well worth the browse.
I went to New Zealand on a trip in 2024 and one of the places I visited time and time again was Blue Hill Books. It was absolutely wonderful. The books were well priced and I added many of them to my collection (it made packing for my return trip difficult). I plan on returning when I go back in 2026.
I stopped to go to Pandoro Bakery, but decided to Browse at Blue Hills Books first. It's a treasure trove of well-selected, widely sourced books. They are reasonably priced compared to buying a new book, and so much better than reading online or with audio books. The Bookshop owner is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I challenge anyone who adores books, to go there and collect a swag bag full of these beautiful books!
