This place baffles me. The one phrase that goes through my head when I'm in there is "what would Jesus say?" Church charity opshops are for those that cannot afford to buy brand new. Growing up, they were always my saving grace. This store gets all of their items donated, and yet have a really slow turnover of products because they're priced so insanely! Cheaply made clothes are marked up to 3x their price sometimes, i saw a very basic wooden stool marked for $40 - and it was labelled BROKEN! There are no Christian values in this store. Nothing is worth it's price there. Poor people live in Kelburn too and need their help but they're more focused on being a boutique than helping the needful 😪
ridiculously overpriced considering everything in here is donated. it's not even particularly cool stuff to justify pricing it that high and on multiple occassions have seen dirty/stained/ripped clothes. have also seen shein/kmart/warehouse brand clothes priced the same as u can get them new, if not even more expensive. on top of that the energy is not very welcoming (in my experience). seems like incredibly greedy management... this is an OP SHOP not an antique/vintage shop, so where's the opportunity? please do not visit this op shop if you're looking for a good one and reconsider donating any items to this place. it makes me sad especially considering a lot of the people that live in this area are low income university students.
Probably the most overpriced op shop in Wellington. Photo evidence attached, unlike half of the broken plastic cars hand stiched on this cheap dress priced at an absurd $19.
I had an unpleasant experience in store yesterday. While making a purchase, an older staff member with brown hair commented on a set of dice I was buying for my son, saying they were a choking hazard and seemed shocked that I was purchasing them. Even after I reassured her that my son doesn’t put things in his mouth, the comment came across as judgmental and made me feel as though my parenting was being questioned. On top of that, I found most items to be very overpriced. I was happy to support the store, but the interaction and the pricing left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed.
Great community focused op shop with lovely staff. A very large selection of items considering they are operating on a small shop floor! Lots of designer clothing items for 10-20% of the retail price, many great finds here. Will definitely be coming back soon!
