Helpful staff — my mum passed away recently and when I donated some items, they were incredibly kind and sympathetic. Great selection too, especially the beautiful homewares section. Definitely worth a visit.

I just had The worst customer service experience of my life at this store trying to donate some clothes and some pet accessories. The older Asian woman was so disrespectful to me. She tried to refuse everything that I brought in claiming that it was bad quality even though they’re all freshly washed and none of them have holes. It’s new clothes. Refuse some pet accessories she said what is this? And I said it’s accessories for a fish tank. It was a filter and a heater worth upwards of $150. She said you have this stuff but no fish tank very rudely. I said yes because someone might have a fish tank, but need some extra accessories. She refused some leggings that I brought in and I said oh okay, I didn’t know you couldn’t sell leggings. I’ve seen them at other places but she started to argue with me and she said where have you seen them? Where have you seen them? And she kept arguing with me for no reason and all I said was I’m just trying to help I didn’t know and then she kept responding just don’t bring them in next time and then she seemed to have a huge problem with every other bag that I brought in and she just kept saying next time. Don’t do this next time don’t do this so I was honestly shocked at the disrespect and ended up turning around to walk away because I was trying to defend myself and she just kept putting me down so disrespectfully, and when I turned around she yelled at me what is wrong with you? So I turned around and I said you need to be nicer. You are not being nice to me at all. I’m trying to help. I’m trying to donate and then she started yelling at me until I got into my car. I had already turned around to walk into my car and she was yelling at the back of my head until well after I had closed my car door. I honestly cannot believe how disrespectful that was. I have never been spoken to that way in a customer service environment. I’m so disgusted.

My husband and I love giving back and when we came in to donate items here the man at the front was amazing. He thanked us for the donation and let us know where we could take it. However the Asian lady at the donations point was horrible. The box my husband was carrying was rather heavy, full of donations and she demanded we put it down. We asked twice where she would like us to put it where it was out of the way and she just kept demanding we drop it. Husband put it down and she started rummaging through it asking what we had. Mainly crafting supplies and, glassware (good condition) and bedding. She started berating us saying the little glasses we brought were not good enough and to only bring things you would see in an op shop. Which we have numerous times. Made us feel horrible as though we had brought them rubbish. We took the rest down the road at lifeline and they were thrilled with the donation. Horrible, horrible lady.

I took a donation to Salvos at Robina Super Centre today (14/4/26). The store was open but there was no identified place to leave the goods. I was directed to the sorting section at the back of the door where a volunteer was sorting clothes. I asked her where should I leave my donation and she lifted her head and said to me with a frown on her face, ‘ it’s not kids clothes is it?’ . I said no and she told me to just leave my donation on the floor which I did. I left the area and browsed through the store. I then went back to the woman and told her I wasn’t happy with her attitude re my donation and explained why. Two other workers then appeared and started interjecting and I told them I wasn’t happy and was not interested in their excuses re my treatment. I then picked up my donation and told them I will donate it to another charity. I found this such a negative experience, particularly when a sign in the window said they needed donations of men’s clothing which mine was. There is also a sign on the window stating any after hours donations will be considered as dumping and offenders will be prosecuted. I understand after hours donations left at the door can be an issue but this level of signposting along with such negative treatment when I attempted to make a donation today is abysmal

Apart from a very miserable person at the counter today at the Robina branch, I’ve noticed things that obviously staff think are French or Italian top designer items… a Christian Dior labeled scarf with an Asian brand new ticket tag on it $85. Come on guys, 1# if you think it’s a designer top brand item it would be worth a lot more than $85, 2# if you believe it’s a very expensive Dior scarf but with a brand new tag on it from a very obvious knockoff company that’s illegal to sell counterfeit goods with a new tag! That needs to be thought of a bit closer! and really surely someone in the volunteer circle knows a crappy knockoff item from the real deal! The prices here are horrendous, stained dress Miss Shop $50, $15 for a sportsgirl tshirt, $ just getting a bit jokey to be honest! If volunteers don’t want to be courteous and happy to customers don’t volunteer!
