Typically, the staff at Ability Enterprises Tip Shop are friendly, welcoming and polite, and I’ve never had an issue with how we’re treated. However, I do have some concerns after our last two visits. On the first day, we arrived with a ute containing mostly old cupboards/cardboard (which is normally accepted free) and one small children’s plastic toy slide that was shorter than my legs. We were charged $18. When my partner asked why, we were simply told, “You’re in a ute, it’s policy.” It seemed unreasonable to pay a vehicle-based fee when almost everything we were disposing of would otherwise have been free. The following day, we returned with an old electric armchair and a couch cover set to donate to the tip shop. They declined to accept them because of a few cat scratches on the chair, which is understandable. What was disappointing was the comment, “This is a place of charity, not handouts.” The wording came across as unnecessary and left us feeling unwelcome. After these experiences, we’ll likely take our business elsewhere in the future. It’s also disappointing because situations like this don’t exactly encourage people to recycle or dispose of items responsibly. I also think it would greatly benefit the region if it introduced a hard rubbish collection service, similar to many Brisbane council areas. It would make responsible disposal much easier for residents and likely reduce illegal dumping and unnecessary landfill.

It's a great place to find things you want or need for a cheap price and it's for a good cause..workers are great and very helpful 😁
I agree with the other reviews about the customer service, some staff need some training, I approached the entrance to the tip to see a lady in the booth on her phone with her earphones in and she took her time coming to the window, didn't even take out her earphones to speak to me and wasn't very friendly. Such a bad look. The shop itself is fantastic.
More items than I expected. The most friendly, helpful and wonderful staff. I cannot wait to see what treasure I find on my next visit :)
