Family Life Op Shop in Mount Eliza has a nice layout and a small range of clothing, books, homewares and other second-hand items. The store is clean, well organised and easy to browse. The only thing that let it down for me was the pricing. Some items felt much more expensive than you'd normally expect from an op shop. For example, I saw an Elton John music book priced at $12, even though the original retail price printed on it was only $4.95 first hand.

Like all Mt Eliza & Family Life op shops, greed has gotten the better of them. Charities like this make me angry - forgetting their purpose and clientele. Just because it’s in Mt Eliza, doesn’t mean it’s the rich buying. $35 for a white ladies shirt, $20 for a stained dress, $18 for a no name blouse…. Many items I could’ve bought to support your charity but didn’t because of your silly price gauging. So your clients miss out, as do the recipients of your charity. Shameful.

There were some lovely things in the shop and it was well organised. The manger was really awful to us when asking simple questions about prices of things. She was passive aggressive and wouldn’t even make eye contact, we felt so uncomfortable. The lady helping us at the register when we were paying was lovely. She asked the manager for help - the manger completely took over and was so patronising to the lady who was still in training. Quite disappointing to see in a place that is supposed to provide opportunity to people.

I have been into the shop a few times. Melinda is always lovely, friendly & helpful. I lost my keys a month ago around Mt Eliza shops. I asked if I may have lost them in the store & Melinda went out of her way to try & help me find them & took my details down. The shop is worth a visit if you're in Mt Eliza, and you will find good brand clothing at great prices.
