How the shop counts work
Place counts come from each area’s own postcodes, so they do not add up to the total above. That total counts shops recorded as having passed through our Google information check in the last 90 days; a shop near a boundary can appear in two places, and some sit outside every listed place.

Op shopping in Australia
Are op shops open on Sundays in Australia?
Many are, particularly the larger Salvos and Vinnies stores and anything inside a shopping centre, while smaller community and church-run shops often close for the weekend. Each shop page shows that shop's own hours and whether it's open right now.
What's the difference between an op shop and a thrift or vintage store?
An op shop is run by a charity and the proceeds go to the cause. Vintage stores, consignment boutiques and secondhand dealers are businesses buying and selling for profit. The counts on this page are op shops only; open any place below and you can switch the secondhand dealers on there.
Can I donate to any op shop?
Most accept clothing, books and homeware in good condition during opening hours. Furniture and electricals depend on the store — many can't take untested electrical goods at all. Check before bringing anything large, and never leave donations outside a closed shop.
Are the opening hours here right?
They come from each shop's own listing and are refreshed regularly, but a volunteer-run shop can close at short notice. Treat them as a strong guide rather than a guarantee, and tell us on the shop's page if you find one wrong.
