So everyone here bagging Vinnies. How many if you would lift a finger to Volunteer. How did you determine the CEO's wages. Fill a bag for $5.00. Why is that everyone expects charity shops to charge the same prices as they did 20 years ago. Do you know how much iy costs to empty the bins of all the rubbish each year. Usualky for charity stores about a milliin or so a year and despite peoples fantasies that charity stores dont pay rent, electricity, insurance for the store and every volunteer, the truth is they do and if in shopping centres, they can be asked to pay a portion if their sales and yes I do know these facts. How about volunteering for one day and find out what its really like and ask sime intelligent questions to acertain the truth. Fill up your car with petrol and deliver meals to hungry people on the street. Talk to the peoole who face this down everday and are overwhelmed because they cant help everyone. You expect everyone else to to do everything for free but wouldnt set aside even 1 hour to help those in need yourself. Have a think about that for a moment.
I’m a seasoned op shopper and what struck me most about this store was its spotlessness. Trust me, I’ve seen some sad, filthy stores full of the grottiest junk which should have been binned instead of salvaged - which is testament to the eye for detail and fantastic work of the volunteers who keep this great store running. Ignore Leila’s review, she should stick to her iced chai lattes. A bit more thought is required as to what our dollar goes towards, and it’s not just a CEO.
