A well known and much frequented venue, this Salvation Army Thrift Shop has been on the site for many decades. Certainly, it has prospered due to the hard work, diligence and creativity of many. Melbourne has hundreds of memorable opportunity shops; this one being unique and very special. Of course, the goods for sale are of fine quality and diverse, it is the boundless energy and essential kindness of the current management and staff that make it magic. Always a visual treat to enter, with superb displays that are continual changed or enhanced, there are gems to be had, always at a reasonable, I might say, generous price. Young families come to find clothes, toys and many useful items. Grungily dressed dealers sort through collectables, books and records, musing how did this get here! Many senior citizens gather to connect and breathe the reaffirming decency and thoughtfulness of the staff. Young people find outrageous clothes, decorations and shoes, their laughter gently filling the rooms.I gather that considerable sums are collected from sales each week, which is discreetly and wisely pumped back into the community by the management at the Camberwell Salvation Army, the administrators. So if you have interesting donations or are searching for something wildly unusual, please consider this easily accessible and fun shop.

I love this op shop! They’re super friendly, they have a great selection, and I absolutely love that they have a really good quality $1 rack out the front. Most of the op shops in our area are charging almost the same as a retail store for items, it is in the spirit that they have affordable clothes for people of all income brackets to buy. And while they do have some pricier items, those are the exception.
