Museum Opportunity Shop has an unusual setting inside Ōpōtiki’s historic Shalfoon and Francis store complex. Volunteers sell donated goods to help cover operating costs for the shop and museum, so the browse directly supports local heritage. Behind the retail space, the preserved former general store retains old counters, shelving and collections, giving this community shop a connection to the building’s trading history that ordinary op shops cannot offer.
