Love the location as this place is closeby and on a strip with 3 other op shops. We frequent them but I have to say, sadly this is probably my least favourite op shop. The gentlemen who is often behind the till is cold and unwelcoming, especially when I visit with my young son. But the ladies have always been nice and warmer. When he's around, we do an awkward walk around the store and quickly leave as it is uncomfortable. We love op shopping and sometimes we just skip this one to avoid being uncomfortable. We like looking into the display as it's very neat and tidy. Just wish it was more welcoming.
HD Streetwise is a fabulous organisation under the guidance of Shelley the founder. The op shop is amazingly organised and Shelly is there an amazing things in the community such as HD quilting angels 😇 by making blankets /quilts out of donations and recycled materials such as pillow cases and flannelette sheets as well as making wonderful things for a hospital systems such as carry bags for dialysis and treatment plus throw blankets for warmth and comfort. The amazing Barb Stewart introduced me to this organisation. Thank you sweet angel Barb for all your tired, hard work. I notice you xx
Absolutely Loved this shop and have only been in there once! Such a great quality of items! AMAZING PRICES 🤩 That already makes me want to go back! And super friendly service! 👌
On a whim I visited this op shop that has recently moved to the premises. The prices are really good, only a few dollars for clothes like all thrift shops used to be! Most women's clothing was $2-3, jeans and jackets were $5. There was a good range of good quality baby/toddler clothes for $1-2. Lots of men's clothes too, including hi-vis work gear. All the jewellery was $2. There are lots of clothes to look at but the shop doesn't have many homewares for sale yet. The volunteers in the shop were really helpful. They offered to call me if someone donated the style of crockery I'm looking for. It was easy to find staff, they weren't hiding out back. I asked about the charity (I'd never heard of it) and the volunteer explained that the charity is hands on assisting homeless people. They give out food bundles to families, toiletry packs, winter coats when the weather turns among other things. I was really impressed at how practical the programs are. They even turn donated clothes that can't be sold into quilting squares that volunteers make into quilts they give out on the street. And the money that the store makes goes almost entirely towards the charity work (not admin costs).
I am so surprised I had not heard of this wonderful outreach. Everything is done with excellence and volunteers are looked after and happy. The shop is spotlessly clean and anything donated is never wasted. I'm excited to be starting there on Monday, cutting squares of material so CWA ladies make into quilts and given to homeless.
